City & Guilds 3668 Unit 2 Fibre Optic Cabling
The City & Guilds 3668 (was 3667) is the industry standard qualification for fibre installation in UK, and it is also widely recognised and respected in the rest of the world.
The City & Guilds 3668 Unit 2 Fibre Cabling” covers the theory and practical skills required to install optical fibre and carry out basic testing. This new unit replaces both the previous 3667 Unit 2 Internal Fibre and 3667 Unit 3 External fibre, which have now been merged, the way we have always taught it at Lucid anyway. The new unit covers both multimode fibre and the skills required to fit connectors as well as single mode fibre and the skills required to splice and manage fibre in larger joints.
The 3668 Unit 2 Fibre Cabling is assessed by means of a PC based multi choice exam invigilated by Lucid staff, and a practical skills exam assessed by the course tutor.
In order to gain the full 3668 Level 2 Award in Communications Cabling , candidates must complete both unit 1 and at least one of units 2, 3 or 4.
Delegates taking the 3668 Unit 2 Fibre Cabling with Lucid will also have the opportunity to take the “Level 3 Award in Fibre Optics Installation and Testing” with Open Awards, another UK licenced awarding body. The OA level 3 Award sits on top of the 5-day “City & Guilds 3668 Unit 2 Fibre Cabling” course, so you actually get both qualifications for just the one 5-day course; at Lucid we have always gone beyond the syllabus requirements for the 3668 (previously 3667), and the new level 3 qualification recognises this.
Please note, all the 3668 units have been designed so they can be taken in any order. There is no requirement to complete unit 1 before starting unit 2, 3 or 4 – all the theory material required for the units 2, 3 and 4 are included in these units as well.
